Autel announced its tablets have been certified by the Auto Authentication Authority (AutoAuth) to access Mercedes-Benz vehicles’ Security Gateway (SGW). As a result, “Autel tablet users can now access more vehicle brands’ secure gateways than any aftermarket tool using the authentication service,” the company explained in a news release about the certification.
In addition, Autel negotiated with Volkswagen/Audi Group to add SGW access capability to its diagnostics and service tablets, and, last month, Autel added the functionality to its tablets. Users can purchase single VW/Audi VIN/24-hour sessions or unlimited VINs/full-year access plans.

We have prioritized getting our tablets authorized to access these systems and enabling our technicians to service the vehicles they need to. Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to authorize Autel tablets to access SGW-protected systems via AutoAuth. Technicians can also access Nissan and Stellantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Maserati) vehicles with an SGW via an AutoAuth-registered Autel tablet, the company explained.
