Advance Auto Parts Appoints Jeff Vining as General Counsel

Advance Auto Parts announced that it has appointed Jeff Vining as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective March 2, 2025. In this role, the company said Vining will be responsible for all aspects of the Advance’s legal, corporate governance and compliance functions. Vining will report directly to Shane O’Kelly, president and chief executive officer.

The company added that Tammy Finley, who currently serves in this role, is retiring and will stay with Advance in an advisory capacity to support the transition. Finley spent 27 years at Advance in the legal, human resources and communications functions.

explained that Vining brings more than 20 years of deep legal expertise within publicly traded companies, including key areas such as corporate governance, M&A, risk management, labor and employment, and litigation. Most recently, he served as general counsel and secretary at Unifi, Inc., where he was responsible for the company’s global legal functions and ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements.

Vining received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence at the University of Richmond School of Law in Richmond, Virginia, and his Bachelor of Science from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

      Advance, NASCAR Partnership Boosts Short Track Racing

      As the 2025 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series heats up, Advance Auto Parts and NASCAR announced a new collaboration. The Advance NASCAR partnership will support local short track racing through “Advance Auto Parts Night at the Races” in 17 markets.
      The program aims to boost support for local tracks, drivers and their communities throughout the season. During select race weeks, fans from Colorado National Speedway to Seekonk Speedway will experience special events. These will happen both at the tracks and at Advance Auto Parts retail stores nearby.

      Each “Advance Auto Parts Night at the Races” will include activities at a local Advance Auto Parts store. Stores will host driver autograph signings, giveaways, and other fan-friendly experiences.

This move strengthens Arnold Motor Supply’s commitment to providing top-quality parts and service to automotive professionals and DIYers, the company said. A news release about the acquisition explained that Kohl Auto Parts has a rich history, originally founded as Sidles in the 1950s before becoming Mr. Automotive in the 1970s. Neal Kohl purchased the store in 1986, and his son, Barry Kohl, took ownership in 1992. Barry later rebranded the business as Kohl Auto Parts in 1999. Over the years, it has become a staple in the McCook community, known for its expertise and customer service.
